Take it to any autoparts store and get a free Powertrain scan ("P") codes.

You may also want to take it to a shop and get the ("C") chassis, ("B") body and ("U") communictions codes scanned.

Autoparts stores can, generally , only scan "P" codes, but it is free, so start there.

The IP problem may well be a problem with the IP itself, assuming all fuses are good.

Scans other than "P" scans are generally dealer or ASE certified garage.

Many garages have the scan tools necessary to scan all codes.

Check with GM about your IP (instrument panel :) ) problem, they may have been recalled and it would not cost you anything.
