1997 GMC C1500 fuel pump

being somewhat of a backyard mechanic i need some info on changing my fuel pump, i know its located in the tank so im assuming the first step is to drop the gas tank then..................

The sending unit and the pump are held in by a lock ring. IT is removed counter clock wise. When you replace the pump, I would use a delco or delphi pump and replace the connector going to the plug of the sending unit. Replace the fuel filter at the same time to maintain the warranty on the pump.
