I recently replaced the upper intake gaskets and set the timing to 0 degrees btc and then set the distributor in at the number one. did I do this process right or did I leave something out. If I am off the truck should still start right.

Hello,

On this engine the timing should be at 0 degree, top dead center.
So you did set it correctly.
I have included the timing procedure for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
