i went to lunchtheother day and i started mytruck up drove a quarter mile to a red light, light turnede green my drive gearsdidnt worki had to drive the truck the rest of the day in reverse the next day drive gears worked perfectly i think my transmission is giong out nut im not sure

It sounds like the trans is going. Make sure the fulid is full and clean. Also, has the check engine light come on? It could be a sensor problem.

i agree it might be going out. what would be the price range for a trans rebuild kit or would it even be worth it

To have your trans rebuilt would be in the area ok 2K. If the truck is still in good condition and the engine is strong, the question is, can you replace it for that? It's hard for me to say without knowing the truck and its condition. You could check out what it's worh on Kelly Blue Book if that will help you make a decision. Their address is www.kbb.com

ive rebuilt a transmission before for a friend of mine but i dont know how much it would be just for the kit i have the tools and the know how for a rebuild i just need a price no one seems to know

A general rebuild kit (clutches, seals, gaskets...) is usually around 200.
