i have a 1992 gmc sierra with 305 small block 4wd and when i put it in neutral and change to neutral on the 4wd gear it makes a grinding sounds and it want lock in to 4wd anymore do you know what i would have to do to fix that

If you are stopped when you shift, put it in park. That will prevent the trans from turning and the grinding
