1989 GMC C1500 rev up down no power???

i cant figure out revs up down no power will rev but while driving has no power, wants to die with little gas like an dead spot but will take off but lake of power

this could be a timing chain issue, but check your engine vacuum at idle as it may be a plugged converter or muffler....if the vacuum is at 15" or so dsconnect the exaust and test drive it see if that cures it.
