1988 GMC C1500 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My 88 GMC only seems to stall when going up a hill or stopping on hill up or down, it runs just fine when the truck is on flat ground. Any suggestions?

I would check the fuel filter. If it hasn't been changed in a while it may be clogged (partially).
Also, check the fuel pump pressure (sometimes the pump can become too weak for strenious work but still can supply enough fuel for cruising or minimal loads). You can test this by hard acceleration on level ground once the engine is at normal temperature. If all of the fuel concerns check out; have the ignition system checked on an oscilloscope, during hard acceleration or power-braking.
