1986 GMC C1500 headlights and taillights

1986 GMC C1500 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

one evening i turned my lights on, came on a split second and went out. i replaced the switch, have no blown fuses or loose wires. what else can i check or what do i need to do to get my lights working again?
