Hi recently bought a 2003 2.0 tdci mondeo 157000 on the clock, makes a rattling noise when you drive it and if I rev hard glo light starts flashing And sometimes it loses power completely and I have to turn it off and start again, also smokes a lot blackish smoke not white. Had all filters changed, oil level hasn't changed since had oil everything Robeson that's good. But someone think its the turbo? Is there any way finding out with out having to go garage paying a fortune having it looked at then paying fortune to having it fixed? Don't mind get a reconditioned turbo or one thing if it us,,,,

You can get the turbo boost checked fairly cheaply at most work shops, it is just a matter of hooking up a pressure gauge to the pressure side of the induction system, also i would be checking with a scan for any unresolved fault codes, start here.
