Hello,

I was getting EVAP codes on my 2013 Toyota. I replaced the fuel neck, the Purge valve, and the charcoal canister. I couldn't clear the codes so I took it to a mechanic. They told me was the seal to the gas tank. They replaced it and I drove the car for 200 mile and had it emissions tested. It passed. I was driving home a few days later the check engine light came on. It pointed to the puger valve. I took it out and cleaned it and reinstalled it. I drove it a few days and now I get code P2401 and that points to the charcoal canister. I replaced the charcoal canister and the puger valve during my hunt for the EVAP codes. What is going on? It passed emissions and I get code for the purge valve and the charcoal canister.

The first thing I would check is the seal on the gas cap. The P2401 code does not automatically mean the charcoal canister is saturated or leaking. It means the ECM does not like the electrical circuit controlling the EVAP leak detection pump. If the cap is okay test the leak detection pump circuit at the charcoal canister. Check the connector for corrosion, loose terminals, bent pins, broken wires, and make sure the canister/pump assembly. The EVAP leak detection pump is located at the rear of the vehicle by the charcoal canister, near the fuel tank area. Also I would do a smoke test on the EVAP system to make sure the system is not leaking. This video will show you how.

Here is the location of the leak detection pump. Check out the images (below). Please let me know what happens.
