1997 Geo Tracker timing

how should the timing marks be set on this tracker i set the marks by the book but it does not start (fyi)it did start befor i changed the head gasket.

Put the engine's no.1 piston on its compression stroke/TDC then line the sprockets up as shown and slap the T/belt on.
