1990 Geo Tracker ignition circuit failure

Hi, my went from running fine, turn it off and went to turn it on and nothing happen complete dead circuit.
tried it a few times on off and the dash control lights
slowly lit up, tried to start heard several clicks down below the dash and all the control lites went out, the acc. key posistion works the radio lites up and plays.
In the tracker repair manual their is a starter control circuit is that what is making the clicking noise . thank you, Jim

Hi jschef and TY for the donation What you need to do here is test the battery and connections-if okay Have helper hold key at start position-check for power on the black and yellow wire on the starter solenoid-if power is indicated get the starter tested or replaced. No power-check for power at the park/neutral switch located right side of transmission black and red wire-No power here replace the ignition switch -power present replaced the park/neutral switch. Need more further assistance, don' hesitate
