1993 Geo Storm ignition

I have checked the distributor, coil wire,power to coil and dist. and no spark from the coil to dist.; replaced the coil, now the book is telling me to check the igniter and then the computer. It doesn't tell how to check the igniter. How do I do that?

Remove the dist cap, take the igniter off and have it tested and most any auto parts store for free.
