My daughter's 97 Geo vibrates badly when idling either in gear or in park. The vibration quits as the engine is revved up. Any idea what may be causing the vibration? Thanks.

Hi there,

You may have a low speed miss fire or the idle is way to low, start with a tune up first and do a scan to check for any unresolved fault codes, and as a precaution check all engine & transmission mounts, start here.

My car is a 94. Spark plugs, wires are new but they did not solve the problem. Is it possible to visually diagnose if the issue results from mounts? Just by looking at- and if reachable- by feeling them?

Thanks.

You need to place a jack under the sump, use a block of timber so not to do any damage, and take the engine weight slowly, check to See how much movement there is in the mounts.
