My stick shift has been "sticking" and very hard to switch gears. 1st and 2nd gear are hardest to shift. Is it the clutch going, or a linkage problem? What is the repair cost for both?

Thanks

First, check the clutch master cylinder for fluid level, then have someone push the clutch in while you watch the slave cylinder for movement (if it doesn't move, or very little) it is a hydraulic problem.

Check the linkage for binding by moving the shifter through the gears with engine off, if it is still hard to move it is most likely the linkage (cable or shifter assy.) If it moves freely, then it is most likely clutch wear.

Also make sure the motor mounts are good (not broken or collapsed).
