MY 1996 Geo Prism coded a 340 code which is supposed to be a camshaft positioning sensor circuit malfunction, but the auto parts guy tells me that there isn't a camshaft sensor in the Prism. Any suggestions. I really want to get my car back up and running. It has been a fantastic little car...30 to 35 mpg. The mommy van is eating my shorts in gas.

1996 should have OBD I diagnostics which would render your trouble code incorrect. . but if it is OBD II then check the timing chain.
