1995 Geo Prizm Smoking

My car is smoking out of the exhaust when i take off and also when i shift into 2nd gear. The smoke is white. Anyone know what the problem is with this?

White smoke is an indication of coolant in the exhaust, blown head gasket, cracked head. Have a compression test performed, but more than likely you will need to replace the head gasket or possibly the head.
