My car vibrates at start up and continues through the driving process. (steering seems okay) I've been told that it needs motor mounts by a couple of different mechanics (including Mr.Goodwrench). However: one other said it wasn't motor mounts, that it might be the balance shaft in the engine. Another mentioned axle joints. I'm confused. Any sure way to tell what the problem is? Thanks.

Does the problem happen while in park or only when moving?

It isn't the axles as they don't move in park. Motor mounts can be checked by brake reving the engine and watch for excessive movement in the engine/transmission.
