1994 Geo Prizm unable to place in gear

when attempts are made to place in gear, a grinding sound occurs.large bearing fell from uder vehicle,cannot get into gear.

Was this a CV axle?

If axle fell out, most likely the differential has siezed.

You will have to tow to garage for estimate.
