I see a "check engine" light on my instrument panel. I brought the car to a mechanic who check the car with a computer. He told me that distributor assembly of the car is broken (code 12).

Can I still drive the car?

What is the cheapest way to fix it (since the car is pretty old already)?

can still drive but will experience poor fuel mileage and low power. best way is to either have distributor rebuilt or just replace with a used one or new one.
