1991 Geo Prizm Gas and temperature gauges out of whack

There was a loose wire that was tightened and since then the gas and temperature guages only reads properly when the car is not moving or in park idled.when driving the gauges move all the way up off the chart

Recheck the wire for burnt/worn insulation.
