Does the tranny come out the top or the bottom?

Out the bottom if you are just removing the tranny.

Out the top is removing both engine and tranny.

If working in garage with cherry picker, it is easier (for me) to take the whole works out the top.

With engine and tranny out, you can very easily change WP, timing belt and any seals (rear main) that should be changed.

MAKE SURE you refill transmission differential fluid when you re-install.
