On the Metro, the combination switch integrates the functions of the headlight/dimmer switch, turn signal switch and windshield wiper/washer switch.
1. Place the ignition switch in the LOCK position. Disable the SIR (air bag) system, as if equipped.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the steering wheel and steering column covers.
4. Disconnect all electrical connectors.
5. Remove the screws retaining the air bag coil and turn signal/dimmer switch assembly.
The coil assembly will become uncentered if the steering column is separated from the steering gear and it is allowed to rotate.
6. Remove the switch assembly from the steering column.
To install:
7. Install the switch assembly on the steering column.
8. Install the screws retaining the air bag coil and turn signal/dimmer switch assembly.
9. Connect all electrical connectors.
10. Install the steering wheel and tighten nut to 24 ft. Lbs. (33 Nm). Install the steering column covers.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
12. Enable the SIR (air bag) system, as if equipped.
