A GEM is plug and play last time I replaced one. I do not see one for this year truck can you double check the year please? or give me the location in a picture?

Is this a Ford Explorer Sport or Sport Trac? Those are the two door version of the Explorer and the P/U style.

Those have a GEM that you can configure depending on options. It's behind the dash next to the radio. Its in the middle of the image below.
