Gearshift problem

Every time I start my car the gearshift will not come down, but after the car warms up for a couple of minutes it comes right down. What could be the problem?

Make sure brake pedal is applied then have your shift lock checked. Also check your transmission relay in pdc and maybe have it scanned to see if transmission range sensor has a problem.
