Gears and startup

Hi my car rattles on startup when it has not been started in an hour or so. also, changing gears go from stiff to loose. I am not sure if these are related issues or not. thanks.

we do not have fiesta in USA that year they came later with bigger engines. but if it is just on start up remove fan belt and start car to see if it rattles if it does not then it is in accessories like alternator/AC etc. if it still does it it is in engine or a shield hitting motor/transmission so check for that.
