Transmission will not shift into gear

As I was getting ready to go home from work my van did not want to start. The gear would not shift. I noticed something was wrong when I backed up to park it in reverse and put it in park it did not get the gear and started going forward and it was off. I got in and moved the gear up and down to park drive and back to park what could be the problem? And is it dangerous for me to drive it like that? And is there a recall on it?

Without looking at it I cannot say whether it is safe to drive, but from your description I am assuming that the shift cable has either broken or binding. If you can start it okay and get into gear then drive it, but definitely have it looked at by a mechanic as it may give you starting problems due to not going into gear correctly.

I looked up recalls in "Prodemand"

I went with the "base" model, as no other info was provided in this post. I made 3 screenshots.
