Good day,

I have a strange problem on my car listed above and no one can tell me what is wrong. When I drive in town my car is 100% fine. When I drive highway for about 30km or 20 miles my gear shift is stuck in 5th or 6th gear. After stopping for about 20 minutes I can shift gears again. What could be wrong. The gear oil is changed at dealer and gearbox was stripped. Nothing wrong.

Advise will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,

That is an odd one. It sounds like it is related to heat. However, I have to ask if when you drive in or to town, are using 5th and 6th gear.

I attached a pic below of the shift cables that go between the shifter in the vehicle and the transmission. When it locks, I would have a helper try shifting to see if you notice any movement in the cables at the transmission. Also, you could disconnect them at the transmission to see if you can manually shift the transmission right at the shift levers.

If you can shift it with the cables disconnected, then we know it is a cable issue. If you still can not get it to shift, then it's likely internal (something getting hot and expanding).

Let me know if this is something you can try.

Take care,
Joe
