Having a problem getting my car into gear when I'm driving. The mechanic put oil on cables, and it was fine, then it happened again the next day. But my dad drove it back home for me and had no problem and even took it for a drive and he managed to drive it. Next day it happened to me again, and then my dad drove it again and it was fine for him. But when I pressed the clutch, I heard a bang.

Hello,

Your vehicle is based on the Fiat 500.
These are known to have possible gear change cable issues.

I would suggest checking next time you experience this issue to switch the engine off and see if you can then change gears. This would prove if the problem is in the mechanical gear linkages or in the clutch mechanism.

Also check if you can select reverse or first gear without any crunching/scratching from the transmission.

Next thing to check is the left/right movement of the gear lever. Does it become stiff as the engine warms up or after a longer drive?
