How can I repair linkage that broke off in gearbox? It is stuck in third gear. The box is already removed from the car (Polo Playa 2000 four door hatchback).

Hello,

You need to take the transmission part and see what has broken, I have included the diagrams to help you get the job done and how to get the transmission out even though I know you have already got that done.

Here are the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Hi guys, I have microbus. Had a problem with forth gear. So I got a five speed box from a guy had it fixed, but problem is I do not think the ratios are right as at 120 kmh I am running 4800 rpm's. That seems way to hi as red line is at 5500 rpm's. So I need help. Is the 2.6 five speed good for the motor or is the standard four speed better? Has anyone done a modification like this? Want to make it lighter on fuel, can get brand new box for $15,000, but I do not know if I must go for the four or five speed. Must just add the gearbox I did buy came from a dodgy oak. Please help

Hey QUINTON,

Is sounds like you got the wrong transmission in there. I would get a used one and install it from a wrecking yard. Or have the the one that came out of there rebuilt.

Best, Ken
