Good day all, one day when returning home from work, the car was in third gear, when slacking and wanting to shift down, the gear was stuck. Even when turning the car off, it still would not release. What could be the cause of this?

Check the end of shifter for wear it may not be moving lever under it. Then take a large screwdriver once shifter is off and see if you can line up the linkage below it should look like a square or rectangle in neutral. If the shifter is okay and not worn then it may be a bad shift fork or synchronizer inside transmission. One other thing, check fluid level as it may be low which will cause shift problems. We have no pictures of shifter to relate.

Good morning, thank you I will check everything mentioned above, I have a few pictures of where we took the shifter apart, the only noticeable thing is the bearing around the ball at the bottom of the shifter is damaged, we are currently looking for the part.

That may be part of an assembly for shifter.
