Gear shifting problem

When I put my gear in 'D' mode. D car does not move immediately and later it move in reverse mode. But when put in 'R' mode, it goes forward instead. Kindly assist to advice what is the current problem.

Is the gear shift hard to move does it have play like the cable is worn? Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can see what's going on? That would be great. You can upload it here with your response.
