Gear Shift Connection?

15,000 ago, I had the gear shift connection replaced. It sticks when I try to shift from park to reverse only. I'm being told that they need to replace the Gear Shift Assembly inside of the vehicle. But that part has been discontinued and my only option is a used one that's not guaranteed to work.

Yep, this happens, I would try ebay they have the best prices, I would get another shift cable as well. When parts are discontinued there is nothing you can do but get a used one or fix the old one, did they say what is wrong, can you upload an images of the problem so I can see? We might be able to fix it.
