A few days ago my gear shift cable came a loose but I was able to place it back together. Now it is stuck in reverse and I cannot start it or place it back to park position to replace the cable to start. How can I get my car to start?

Good evening.

On top of the transmission where the cable mounts is where the manual valve is located.

You can move the valve by hand to put it in any gear right from there. you are bypassing the cable.

Do I need to replace the whole gear shift cable or can the old one be fixed with a snap ring to tighten the cable?
