How do you change the light bulb for the gear selector in the center console of my car? What I really need to know is how do I take the center console apart so that I can get to the light bulb to change them. It is no longer working and the center console area is completely dark at night.
Thanks,

Ken Clemens

I included the complete procedure. I doubt you need all of it but just run through it and see what you need. It shows where all the screws are so just take apart enough of it to get to the bulbs.

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks

Hi,

I'm attaching schematics of where all the retainers are for the center console and shifter plate. I also attached a YouTube video on how to replace courtesy light bulb for the shift indicator. Let us know if this information was helpful and what the results is.

Thank you
Joe T.

Thanks to both. The YouTube video references a 2014 model, my 2011 does not have any controls between the shifter plate and cup holder, and the parking brake lever is on the passenger side. My question is, how do I remove the "cup holder" section to the rear of the shifter plate so I can swivel up the rear of the shifter plate to get access to the bulbs? I removed the flexible "bottom" of the drink holder and didn't see any clips or screws anywhere around the assembly. Also, do you know the bulb type so I can buy some before I disassemble anything? Many thanks for the assist. Ken

Hi,

I'm attaching exploded views of the cup holder removal. It will show a manual shifter but same procedure for automatic you can use masking tape on the trim to avoid marking it. Be careful with clips not to break them use a small straight edge screwdriver preferably plastic coated. If you need more information let us know and please let us know if the repair was successful.

Thank you
