I am rebuilding the rear end and was wondering what the draw backs would be if I replaced the 3.42 gears with 3.73. I noticed when I pull me trailer it has a hard time starting off, I do not tow everyday. but was just wondering if that would be wise or would it kill my gas mileage or any other unforeseen issues that I do not see? The reason I am rebuilding the rear end is getting ride of the open carrier and going to limited slip. I would appreciate any information, Thanks

It will give you a little more low end power but it will also surely put a big hit on your fuel mileage. It will also make your speedometer incorrect.

If they show no wear, they should be fine. They are not a high wear item.
