Transmission of gear one and reverse refusing

The transmission of gear 1 and reverse refusing when the bus is stationary, but when in motion gear one goes in. I have tried changing the pressure plate and clutch plate but still it does not go in.

It sounds like the pilot bearing could be locked up. can you double check the year of the van because I do not show a sprinter in 1998? Here is a guide that can help:
