gauges in dash are reading incorrectly

my daughter had a friend jump start her car 5.9 thay hooked them up backwards and popped a fuse but they replaced it and it started but the gauges are acting irregular they are jumping up and down does the bus line to the gauges need to be reprogramed

The damage that can be done by hooking cables up backwards can be unlimited. The car is full of electronic modules and any of them can be fried from doing that. The dash cluster is also a module and likely has been permanently damaged. There may be other things too..
