Recently I’ve noticed my gas is a lot harder to push on. My floor mat isn’t in the way, when my car is off the pedal pushed just fine. If I try to go over 60 my car has a lot of resistance. I had a oil change about 2,000 miles ago. My transmission fluid was flushed at 119,000 miles. My check engine light flashes when I first start my car a few times and it didn’t do that before. But the light doesn’t stay on. My car doesn’t make any noises. I just recently got all new tires. I checked my brake pads and rotors and they were fine. I don’t know what else it could be.

More than likely the throttle cable is binding. There are some that lubricate these and try to repair them but I have never had a long lasting repair so for the cost and easy of repair on these, I just replace it when the pedal get hard.

The only thing you need to check is the throttle plate itself and make sure it is not binding or sticking. You do this by removing the linkage and operate the lever by hand to move the throttle open and closed. If this move freely then the cable is the issue. If the throttle plate is sticking then you can clean it with a throttle bore service. Just make sure you relearn the idle after you do this. All of this is attached if you need to do this.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Having the check engine light even flash means a code is stored in your vehicles computer. If you don't have access to a scanner/code reader most auto parts stores have a tool loaner program and can loan you one. AutoZone will check your codes for free. Here is a tutorial for you to read about how to check codes:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Having this code(s) stored might be directly related to the symptom you are talking about. After having the code(s) read get back to us with the code information and we can properly diagnose.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
