My car won't shift down when at a stop until I reach 50 MPH or 3.5 RPMs. I suspected my transmission was going out, so I took it to Kia. They said nothing showed on the diagnostic and suggested it may be the catalytic converters clogged. I see getting these replaced is expensive so is there any way to tell for sure if this is the issue? Also, does my car have one or two? Thanks

Hello,

Is the check engine light illuminated?
Are you getting any error codes?

Here is a helpful guide on how to test the catalytic converter:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-a-catalytic-converter

This vehicle should have two converters, one at the exhaust manifold and the secondary one on the exhaust pipe under the vehicle.

I have attached a diagram below for your reference.

Let me know of any questions.
Thank you.

Most of the time if there is issue with the converter it will trigger the check engine light.
Let me know if you are able to test the converters.
