I recently bought the car listed above from a tiny little old lady. Who bought it brand new. Tons of work done. She took extreme care of it. So I bought it thinking I'll get it to 350,000.
She was driving on the freeway and getting off the exit. The car suddenly just had no gears. To slipping clutch or anything. No sound nothing. Just revs in any gear, like it's in neutral.
I did replace all 5 pressure valve sensors in the transmission oil pan. And filled it with the correct transmission fluid. But that didn't do anything.
There is a sound. It sounds like "scratching" or like a little wire whipping around. Right behind the transmission oil pan. When you start the car. It's not consistent. But goes away and comes back every few seconds. My obd2 reads no "check engine" codes. But does not have the transmission option. I don't want to dish out over $1,500.00 for a new transmission. And hoping someone on here has seen or heard of this problem before. Thank you for reading.

When you changed the fluid, did you notice any metal in the pan or on the magnet?

Here is a guide that will get us started on these issues:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/automatic-transmission-problems

However, the fact that you have an issue with it making noise like a scarping noise and it is in neutral normally points to an issue in the torque converter.

More than likely the converter failed internally and is no longer transferring the fluid to spin the transmission so the engine just revs but you get no movement.

The way we need to confirm this is to monitor the input shaft speed sensor. Basically this will tell us if the converter is spinning the input shaft. If it is not then we are going to need to go into the unit and replace it.
