Fuse box potential fire?

Engine Bay fuse box. Battery suddenly drained. Tried to jump start it will attempt to crank but no start. Fuses almost caught fire.

Hi,

The fuse should have failed before catching fire. First, I would recommend replacing it. Next, what fuse was it? If it were a starter fuse, the starter itself may be failing and drawing too much amperage.

Let us know if it is in fact the starter fuse. Also, if it is a different fuse other than the starter, remove it to see if it will start. Additionally, if you replace the fuse, only use the amperage recommended by the manufacturer. Do not use a heavier gauge fuse. For example, if it calls for a 10A fuse, do not use a 15A or heavier. That could lead to a fire.
