Whenever the car's engine is running. It sounds like a can rattling in the intake. I've taken off the air filter and don't see anything out of place inside. A friend told me it's the EGR valve. Your thoughts?

Good morning,

there are a lot of reasons for noises like this but it is difficult to determine without hearing it.

Can you take a video and upload it here so I can here it?

No to the EGR valve. it does not make noise at all.

Possible reasons

1. Exhaust shield.

2. Valve train noise.

3. Lower engine noise from failed bearings.

4. Serpentine belt worn out showing metal ribs.
