The first thing I would check is the fuel pressure. Sounds like you might have a weak or failing fuel pump that is not supplying adequate pressure. Also, By chance is the cars check engine light on? Here are two tutorials showing what is involved for checking fuel pressure and check engine light codes:

If you don't have access to a code reader-scanner or a fuel pressure tester most auto parts store have a tool loaner program and can rent you one. I've attached the fuel pressure specifications below. Get back to us after performing these tests and we can then properly diagnose this issue especially if the check engine light is on.
