There is a very strong smell of raw gasoline in the car. i was told to replace the idle control valve which did nothing but make my rpm's drop and my miles to empty gauge go up about 100 miles.

As a safety precaution you should have your vehicle raised on a lift and thoroughly inspected for fuel leaks. This could end up a very dangerous situation and you don't want to risk that!
