Just replaced sending unit due to faulty reading. Now with new sending unit getting a full tank reading even though fuel level is going down. How do I fix this?

Hi,

Attached to the pump and sending unit is the level sensor. It is nothing more than a rheostat which changes resistance and power supply based on fuel level. I suspect that the float that is attached to the rheostat (level sensor) is stuck in the full position. It can happen when you reinstalled the sending unit without you knowing.

I hate to say this, but I would remove the pump assembly again and inspect to make sure nothing was bent or stuck.

Take a look at the attached picture. I circled the float and the sensor. That is what I would check first.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
