Factory service manual states fuel pump pressure specs as (49 PSI 2 PSI) at idle. What exactly does that mean noted that way?

My measured fuel pressure at idle is 51 PSI. So, does that mean my pressure is too high based on the above numbers? Or is there some wiggle room plus or minus?

Good morning,

It means your pressure is good if it is from 47 to 51 pounds.

In your case, it is good.

Hello,

The recommended fuel pressure for this vehicle is 49 PSI (+/- 2 PSI). Which means that the fuel pressure can be 49+2 or 49-2. So as Roy stated the range is 47-51 PSI.
As long as you are within those specifications it is considered to be good.

As with all recommended pressures there is a range. On some manuals it will give you the range and some it will have a set value with a plus or minus value after it.

Hope this helps.

Let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
