Replaced purge control valve and p0441 code came back

I had my fuel pump go out and had it replaced and since then i have had a small smell of gas and also I have a code p0 441. which is the purge control valve. I replaced it and two weeks later the code comes back. help

Hi,

You need to check the purge valve operation with a vacuum pump. I attached the process for running the test on this code. If the purge fails the test again, then you need to inspect the charcoal canister to see if there is raw fuel in it. If there is, then more than likely the charcoal is breaking down and clogging the purge valve.

Let me know what you find and we can go from there.
