the fuel pump will not come on when I turn the key to on or when cranking. What could be the cause?

Just about anything in the circuit could be the cause. The first step is to check to see if your Inertia switch has been tripped. That should be under the dash on the passenger side. If it has not, then the next step is to test for power and ground arriving at the pump during the first two seconds of key on. At that point you will have to start following a wiring diagram to track down the cause, if the pump is not receiving either power or ground.

There is a red button on top that needs to be in the down position.
It could be under the edge of the carpet or behind the kick panel.
