When the fuel pump went bad the fuel gauge still worked. Now that I replaced fuel gauge the fuel pump does not work. We took bed of truck removed new pump thinking float might be stuck. With pump out n wire harness connected turned ignition on to check fuel gauge. If move the float to full gauge works if move float to empty gauge works. Put fuel pump in tank reconnected wire harness n hoses. Turned ignition on and gauge worked fine. Next morning we replaced bed and checked gauge again and this time gauge does not work. Help, this makes second time taking bed of and checking fuel pump.

The problem is that the gauge sending unit (the part that the float is attached to) is no good. Since the pump is new, I am assuming that it is under warranty. Get it replaced and the problem should be solved.
